Marcos Cordeiro d’Ornellas obtained an Engineer’s degree from Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM), Santa Maria-RS, Brazil , a M.Sc. degree in Computer Science from Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronáutica (ITA), São José dos Campos-SP, Brazil , a M.Sc. IT degree in Intellectual Property Rights of Multimedia Artworks from WIPO, Geneva, Switzerland , and the Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from the Intelligent Sensory Information Systems (ISIS) at the Universiteit van Amsterdam (UvA), Amsterdam, Netherlands .
Dr. d’Ornellas is licensed professional engineer ( CREA-RS: 213678) and full professor in the Department of Applied Computing (DCOM). He is a member of the Graduate Program in Computer Science (PPGI) and the Graduate Program in Health Sciences (MPCS). His research is focused on image processing, diagnostic imaging, and natural user interfaces. Dr. d’Ornellas is currently the head of Applied Computing in Health Research Group (CA+SA), a member of the Health Technology Assessment Group (NATS) of the Hospital Universitário de Santa Maria (HUSM) and participates in the Commission for the Special Informatics Study In Health (CEE78IS-ABNT).
Dr. d’Ornellas is a Certified Thermographer Level I – No. 2012BR32N020, issued by the Infrared Training Center (ITC). Dr. d’Ornellas is a member of IEEE, ACM, ABENDI and ABRATERM.
